Description
- Habit : Grass
- Habitat : Grows in tropical and subtropical regions with well-drained sandy or loamy soils, especially in open grasslands.
- Leaves : Basal, sword-shaped, bright green, pleated, 20–60 cm long and 1–4 cm wide.
- Flowers : White, star-shaped flowers with six tepals, arranged in terminal umbels on a long scape.
- Bulb : Ovoid to globose, fleshy, reddish-purple bulb

How to use
- Epileptic Fits : The sap is mixed with salt and used as a remedy for epileptic fits. It is also sometimes mixed with rum and rubbed on the body for that same purpose
- Nasal Congestion : It is also used in combination with Alpinia galanga to relieve cold and nasal congestion among children
- Wounds : The crushed bulb is applied externally to minor wounds and skin infections.

Propagation & Cultivation
It is propagated by seeds.Plant healthy bulbs 3–5 cm deep in well-drained sandy or loamy soil, provide full sun to partial shade, water regularly without water logging, and harvest bulbs after 4–6 months when the leaves turn yellow.
