- Habit : Herb
- Habitat : Abundant in moist places, clayey soil, in low lying areas, river banks
- Leaves : thin, fleshy and crisp and also vary in color from dark green to shades of purple-pink
- Flowers : In axillary spikes, sessile; white
- Fruits : A cordiform urticle, strongly compressed; seed orbicular
How to use
- Eye related problems : Fresh leaves are applied on the eyelids
- Asthma cure : Grind garlic cloves, 1/2 cup leaves along with 1 cup water

Alternanthera sessilis thrives in sun or moderate shade, prefers loamy alkaline soil but adapts to various soils, grows in moist to wet conditions or shallow water, acts as an agricultural weed in tropical regions, invading disturbed wet areas, and varies in growth, being upright in dry soils and prostrate with rooting shoots in wetter conditions.
