Propagation & Cultivation

It is propagated by seeds, sow them in a well-prepared nursery bed or in polybags filled with fine soil and organic matter during March. The seeds usually germinate within 10 days, and the process is completed within three weeks. The young seedlings are ready for transplanting to their permanent location during the rainy season, once they are about three months old. It thrives in warm, humid conditions and partial shade, though it can also tolerate full sun. It grows best in areas with an annual rainfall of 1000–1500 mm. For soil, use rich, loamy, well-drained soil with high organic content, and mix in farmyard manure (FYM) to improve fertility.
