Propagation & Cultivation
Propagation by seed : Start horsetail seeds about six weeks before the last frost, and transplant the seedlings or nursery-grown plants outdoors in early spring. Before planting, prepare a container—either above or below ground—by lining it with a sheet of fine mesh and filling it with a mix of sandy soil and gravel. Dig a hole just deep enough to accommodate the roots, keeping the top of the root ball about 1 inch below the container rim, then fill in the remaining soil and water thoroughly.
