Description
- Habit : Shrub
- Habitat : Commonly found in tufts or tickets, prefer the edges of forests and clearings or the banks of watercourses
- Leaves : ovate or lanceolate
- Flowers : purple in colour ,occurring on few flowered cymes.
- Capsules : 3–5 cm long, membranous, finely pubescent, and truncate at the apex.

- Infusion of fresh leaves and stems is effective in treatment of gonorrhea.
- Powdered root is an abortifacient and anti-fertility agent.
